A New Rooftop Installation: Day One Highlights

At Workplace Defender, we’re excited to share a glimpse into one of our recent rooftop installations. On day one, our team started the process of installing a rooftop plant deck for a roof-mounted plant. This platform is a unique structure, custom-designed to meet the specific needs of our client.

Setting the Foundation

The first step involved installing purlin spacers, which are essential for ensuring the stability and durability of the platform. Once these were securely in place, our team moved on to installing the plant support trusses. These trusses provide the necessary support for the plant deck, ensuring it can handle the weight and operational requirements of the equipment it will host.

Unique Design Features

What makes this project particularly interesting is the design of the platform itself. Unlike traditional rooftop installations, this platform is recessed into the roof. Its design is far from conventional, with not one side being perfectly square and some corners featuring rounded edges. This required a high level of precision and expertise from our installation team to ensure everything was aligned perfectly.

The Installation Process

One of our team members, Tahlia, documented a key moment in the installation process: the fixing of lateral bracing. She recorded a video showing our installer onsite carefully securing the bracing after the frame was squared up. This step is crucial as it ensures the stability of the entire structure before the floor is fitted.

Acoustic Solutions

To address the potential noise issues that can arise from a rooftop plant, this platform will be fully surrounded by a powder-coated screen with acoustic panels. These screens are designed to reduce noise, creating a quieter environment for the surrounding areas.
