R.M WILLIAMS | CASE STUDY
Enhancing Workplace Safety an Aussie Icon
RM Williams, a hallmark of Australian craftsmanship, sought Workplace Defender’s expertise during the design stage of their roofing project. During the roofing project for RM Williams, Workplace Defender collaborated closely to enhance safety and efficiency. A key focus was addressing the brittle surface skylights and the steep inclines of the roof, which posed significant risks.
Challenge
RM Williams faced a significant safety challenge during the design stage of their roofing project. The initial design featured ladders that posed fall hazards due to their steep angle and placement. Additionally, the roof had brittle surface skylights, creating further risks. The roofing facility was also cramped due to photovoltaic (PV) panels, and the roof’s steep inclines added to the complexity. RM Williams required a solution that would integrate seamlessly with their construction plans while ensuring worker safety and regulatory compliance.
Solution
Workplace Defender’s team conducted a thorough assessment of the roofing project. We identified some key changes to improve the way staff and maintenance contractors were required to gain access to work at heights. By using suspended platforms and integrating smaller inclined step ladders spanning back to the building, the fall height could be significantly reduced. This adjustment was crucial in minimising the risk of falls, thereby protecting the workers and enhancing overall safety.
