Stockland | CASE STUDY

Location: Nationwide
Industry: Retail & Commercial Property Management
Scope: Height Safety Compliance, Ladder & Walkway Replacement
Years Active: 2020 – Present
Sites Completed: 14 (and counting)

The Challenge

In 2020, Stockland completed a nationwide safety audit across its shopping centre portfolio. The results highlighted several high-risk non-compliant access areas, including ladders, walkways, and critical rooftop infrastructure. These findings triggered an urgent need for rectification to meet Australian safety standards and protect maintenance workers and contractors.

Our Approach

Workplace Defender (WPD) responded to the first stage tender, which prioritised the highest risk sites across Australia. Our proposal stood out for its:

✅ Proven expertise in height safety compliance
✅ Certified systems and materials
✅ End-to-end service model – from audit review to installation

WPD was awarded the initial project and quickly moved into action. Following the successful delivery of the first stage, Stockland released additional tenders for other sites with compliance shortfalls, all of which WPD was also awarded.

Our Work

To date, WPD has worked on 14 Stockland shopping centre sites, including:

🚧 Replacing non-compliant ladders and walkways
🚧 Installing new, certified roof access systems
🚧 Ensuring each site meets current Australian Standards

Importantly, WPD has continued to educate facility managers, providing tools and resources to help them maintain safety and compliance as a daily practice—not just a one-off project.

The Ongoing Impact

WPD has become a trusted national partner to Stockland, offering more than just installations. Our proactive and responsive service model ensures each site is supported long after the job is done. For Stockland’s facilities managers, this means:

🛠 Simplified infrastructure that’s easy to maintain
📋 Peace of mind knowing sites are compliant and auditable
👷 Ongoing support with future upgrades and safety planning
